Tim Tebow will have a larger role in Texans-Jets game

Tim Tebow will be asked to do more in the New York Jets’ Week 5 game against the Houston Texans after spending most of the year working odd jobs for the Jets’ sputtering offense.

Tim Tebow will play a bigger part in the New York Jets Monday Night Football game against the Houston Texans, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News:

Tebow hasn't really done that much as the team's No. 2 quarterback: he's attempted one pass -- a completion -- while running nine times for 38 yards in Wildcat-esque sets as the team's quarterback. He's also played with mixed results in a variety of other roles, including fullback, wide receiver and personal protector on the team's punt unit. But with Mark Sanchez completing a league-low 49.2 percent of his passes, many have called for a change on a team that was shut out by San Francisco last week.

It's tough to say whether Tebow will provide much help -- although he won some improbable games with a strong Denver Broncos squad last year, his career completion percentage is even lower at 47.5 percent -- but the team has nowhere to go but up offensively. With the team's top receiver in Santonio Holmes injured, Tebow will provide a better running option than Sanchez if receivers are covered downfield.

The Texans are the league’s top scoring defense, having allowed only 56 points in four games.
