Less than 24 hours after leaving a game and not returning because of a concussion Washington Redskins rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III is showing no symptoms of a head injury, head coach Mike Shanahan told the media Monday. Griffin III is expected to see an independent neurologist in the evening and the Redskins won't know the rookie's final status until later in the week, but teammates said he seemed fine (via Mike Jones of the Washington Post).

The news is positive for the Redskins who suffered a 24-17 loss to the visiting Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Backup quarterback Kirk Cousins tried to rally Washington, which led 17-14 with 12:24 remaining in the game, but the Falcons were too much for the Griffin-less Redskins. Griffin III was knocked out of the game after he suffered a third-quarter concussion.

Its expected that Cousins and veteran Rex Grossman will receive more reps in practice as Washington prepares for its Week 6 showdown with the visiting Minnesota Vikings. That game is schedule to start at 4:25 p.m. ET and will be broadcasted on FOX.
