After starting out the season 3-1, the Chargers have lost their last three games to fall to 3-4. San Diego is coming off a rough offensive outing against the Browns, in which they failed to score a touchdown in a 7-6 loss. If the Chargers' offense is going to get going against Kansas City, it will likely need a better performance from Philip Rivers. In the Chargers' four losses this season, Rivers has thrown four touchdowns and seven interceptions. That's compared to six touchdowns and two interceptions in San Diego's three wins.
The Chiefs are tied for the worst record in the NFL at 1-6 and are currently on a four-game losing streak. After being benched in favor of Brady Quinn last week, Matt Cassel will be back in the starting lineup on Thursday. Led by Jamaal Charles, the Chiefs have one of the top rushing attacks in the NFL, but Charles carried just five times last week.
Thursday’s game will be the second meeting between the teams this season. San Diego beat Kansas City, 37-20, in Week 4.
