Adrian Peterson becomes 1st running back to rush for 1,000 yards in 2012

Adrian Peterson has cracked the 1,000-yard barrier once again for the Minnesota Vikings, as he leads the league in rushing.

Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has passed the thousand-yard mark for the fifth time in his six-year career.

He started off Sunday's game against the Detroit Lions with 15 carries for 51 yards, and that was enough to get him over 1,000 yards for the season.

Consider that Peterson is coming off reconstructive knee surgery that took place at the end of December. Less than a year later, he has already run for 1,000 yards. The fact that he was ready for the season opener is remarkable, but the fact that he’s currently outpacing every other running back in the league is unbelievable.

Marshawn Lynch and Doug Martin are currently right behind Peterson in rushing yards this season. The Vikings' running back has set a new bar for ACL surgeries.

The Vikings are currently on top of the Lions, 13-3, and have a 5-4 record so far this season. Peterson has been a huge part of the early-season success.
