The Minnesota Vikings are without No. 1 wide receiver Percy Harvin this week for a division game against the Detroit Lions. With Harvin on the shelf, the Vikings turned to rookie Jarius Wright to keep a little speed in the lineup. He did just that, and picked up his very first NFL touchdown.
Jarius Wright replaces Percy Harvin, scores first NFL touchdown
Vikings rookie WR Jarius Wright scored his first NFL touchdown.
Quarterback Christian Ponder, who no doubt missed Harvin, hit Wright on a three-yard on the short left part of the field for the first quarter touchdown, but that was not the highlight of Wright’s debut performance. On the same drive, Ponder connected with Wright streaking down the field on a go route. Wright made the catch, fell backwards for a 54-yard gain that landed the Vikings right on the doorstep of the end zone, where he scored just three plays later.
Wright later dropped ball, a reminder of why he had not seen much time on the field this season in the first place.
