Jay Cutler’s concussion expected to bring Josh McCown back to Chicago

With the Bears’ star quarterback injured, the team will shore up its depth by bringing back a familiar face.

With Jay Cutler's availability for Week 11 up in the air after he suffered a concussion on Sunday night, the Chicago Bears are expected to bring back Josh McCown, according to Sean Jensen of the Chicago Sun-Times. McCown ended last season with the Bears, but he is currently a free agent.

Cutler missed the entire second half of Chicago's 13-6 loss to the Houston Texans after a big hit in the second quarter knocked him out of the game. Jason Campbell, who was signed by the Bears in the offseason in order to upgrade the depth behind Cutler, went 11-for-19 for 94 yards as Cutler's replacement.

The 33-year-old McCown is a nine-year veteran of the NFL. He spent the first four seasons of his career as a member of the Arizona Cardinals before bouncing around the league. Last season, he was signed by the Bears as a backup for Caleb Hanie after a season-ending injury to Cutler. McCown started the last game of the season, going 15-for-25 for 160 yards with one touchdown and an interception in a 17-13 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
