Chiefs vs. Steelers, Week 10: Pittsburgh sloppy in comeback victory

The Steelers edged the Chiefs, 16-13, on Monday Night Football.

The Pittsburgh Steelers struggled Monday, but did defeat the Kansas City Chiefs, 16-13, in overtime. A 23-yard field goal by kicker Shaun Suisham in the extra session helped the Steelers (6-3) overcome an early 10-0 deficit to the visiting Chiefs (1-8).

Despite earning the win, the SB Nation blog Behind the Steel Curtain is not feeling good about its team’s Monday Night Football effort:

It was the Steelers’ 15th straight home win on Monday Night Football, and had to be one of their worst performances, win or lose, during that stretch. The Steelers’ defense tightened up down the stretch, but gave up big passes at the end, setting up the tying field goal.

The victory was overshadowed by the loss of starting quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who left the game in the third quarter with a right shoulder injury. Backup Byron Leftwich came in and helped lead Pittsburgh to the win, which mainly could be credited to linebacker Lawrence Timmons, who picked off Chiefs' quarterback Matt Cassel in overtime and setup the game-winning field goal.

Roethlisberger left the stadium, and will be evaluated as the week progresses. If it is a shoulder separation, as it appeared, it’s highly unlikely he’ll play against Baltimore in Week 11 - a game with massive playoff implications.

Next week, the Steelers will look to extend their winning streak to five games when the Baltimore Ravens visit Heinz Field in a Sunday Night Football showdown (8:20 p.m. on NBC). The Chiefs host the Cincinnati Bengals (1 p.m. on CBS).
