Brady Quinn injury: Chiefs QB still not cleared to play, Matt Cassel to start

It’s Matt Cassel time once again for the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Brady Quinn is still not good to go, so once again, the Kansas City Chiefs will turn to embattled starting quarterback Matt Cassel this Sunday when they host the Cincinnati Bengals, as tweeted by Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star on Wednesday.

Teicher tweeted that head coach Romeo Crennel said Quinn still hasn’t been cleared by doctors, despite Quinn’s assertion otherwise earlier in the day.

Quinn sustained a concussion in his one start of the season, Oct. 28 against the Oakland Raiders. He was knocked out of that game and replaced by the starter going into the season, Cassel, who has started every Chiefs game since.

Cassel has been bad this season, to say the least. He struggled again in the Chiefs' Monday-night loss to the PIttsburgh Steelers, completing only 11 of 26 passes for 154 yards. On the season, Cassel has an abysmal 66.6 quarterback rating to go along with 1,703 yards and just six touchdowns. Quinn hasn't any fared better in what little time he's seen on the field. He's thrown no touchdowns and has a QB rating of 43.1 in three games.
