After sitting out all of the Kansas City Chiefs' offseason practices and training camp because the team hit him with the franchise tag, Dwayne Bowe eventually bowed to pressure and signed the Chiefs' offer. The behavior led many to think Bowe didn't want to be in Kansas City. Nothing could be further from the truth, according to Bowe.

Despite rumors to the contrary, Bowe says wants to be a Chief until the day he retires.

It’s not uncommon for the public’s perception to turn negative toward a player who holds out of all team activities for a better contract. Bowe contests though that he never actually said he didn’t want to play his entire career in Kansas City.
"Why wouldn’t I want to stay here? It’s a no-brainer for me. I never said I didn’t want to be here. I never said that. This is where it started for me. This is where people know me from. That’s crazy to me."
He’s already well on his way to being the team’s all-time leader in receptions for wide receivers, needing just 12 to pass Henry Marshall. He’d still have about 500 receptions to go if he wants to catch the all-time leader, tight end Tony Gonzalez.
Bowe and the Chiefs will have to negotiate again this offseason. If they can’t come to an agreement on a long-term deal, the Chiefs could franchise Bowe a second time.
