Wes Welker injury: Patriots WR expected to play Sunday

New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker was limited in practice all week with an ankle injury, but he is expected to play Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.

David Butler II-US PRESSWIRE

New England Patriots wide receiver Wes Welker is expected to play Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts despite being limited in practice all last week with an ankle injury, according to Greg A. Bedard of Boston.com.

Welker first injured his ankle in New England's Week 8 victory over the St. Louis Rams. The Patriots had their bye week immediately following the injury and have played only one game since. Although Welker has been limited in practice in the days leading up to a game, he has yet to miss a contest. Last week against the Buffalo Bills, Welker had six receptions for 74 yards.

Welker has caught 66 passes for 810 yards this year, but has only two touchdowns through nine games, considerably off the pace of his last two seasons. He and the Patriots renew their rivalry with the Indianapolis Colts in Week 11, but instead of Peyton Manning under center, the Colts will be led by rookie phenom Andrew Luck.
