Andre Johnson, who at one point was considered easily the best wide receiver in the NFL, hasn't been having a great 2012 by his standards, but all that turned around Sunday afternoon in the Houston Texans' overtime victory against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Jaguars vs. Colts 2012: Andre Johnson has historic receiving day
Andre Johnson racked up some historic receiving numbers Sunday, catching 14 passes for 273 yards in the Texans’ win over the Jaguars.
Johnson caught 14 passes for 273 yards and a touchdown, which is the seventh-highest single-game receiving yardage total in NFL history. Johnson had only eclipsed 100 yards in two previous games, in Week 1 against the Dolphins and Week 9 against the Bills, and had scored only two touchdowns on the season.
Before the last play of the game, Johnson was still having a great day with 13 receptions for 225 yards, but Matt Schaub hit him for a 48-yard score, bringing him to his historic numbers. Schaub finished with 527 yards and 5 touchdowns — tied for the second-highest total in NFL history — in the game, which I suppose is pretty OK, too.
