Chicago's offense may have the 28th-ranked offense in yards this season, but its ball-hawking, opportunistic defense is the reason the Bears rank 8th in the league in scoring, averaging almost 27 points per game. On Monday, the Bears' offense hinges on quarterback Jay Cutler, and whether he will be approved to play following a concussion. They're not a team who relies on moving the ball through the air, instead opting to lean on running back Matt Forte, but Cutler's absence will be felt.
Meanwhile the San Francisco 49ers have similar injury issues at quarterback, where Alex Smith sustained a concussion of his own. Unlike Cutler, he managed a full week of practice, but similarly, the 49ers don't need him to pick up a lot of yards though the air. On pace for 1,300 yards, Frank Gore has been reliable this season, and San Francisco will play with a chip on its shoulder, looking to make amends for a Week 10 tie against the St. Louis Rams.
