Chargers vs. Broncos 2012: Norv Turner’s job on the line following 30-23 loss

The Chargers have just about guaranteed themselves a losing season following their latest loss to Denver. Could Norv Turner be on his way out?

The San Diego Chargers lost again in Week 11, this time at the hands of Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. The Chargers are now 4-6 this season following their 30-23 loss on Sunday, and it appears the team may be setting their eyes on next year.

According to SB Nation's Chargers blog, Bolts From The Blue, the offensive performance against Denver was one of the worst in the Norv Turner era. Philip Rivers continued to struggle with turnovers and the offensive line was unable to open up any holes for running backs Ryan Mathews and Jackie Battle.

Combine that with a mediocre defensive showing and it’s easy to see why Bolts from the Blue was so frustrated with the loss.

Today’s loss has all but assured the Chargers of a third straight season without a playoff appearance and likely was the final nail in the coffin of Turner’s tenure as Chargers head coach. [...]

Ultimately, the game wasn’t nearly as close as the (not even all that close) final score. Chargers fans are at the point of looking to next year now.

There is still technically time for San Diego to make a run against a weak field of AFC teams vying for the two Wild Card spots, although any shot they had at the AFC West crown is essentially gone.

The Chargers have the talent to win a couple of big games in late November and December, but they will have to improve upon their poor performance in Week 11. They'll look to get back on track next weekend against the Baltimore Ravens.
