Saints vs. Raiders 2012 reaction: New Orleans fans pleased as Saints take care of business

A balanced attack on offense combines with a good defensive effort to key a Saints victory.

Thearon W. Henderson

Mostly, New Orleans Saints fans likely expected a victory over the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, but it was the business-like way in which the Saints topped the Raiders that had the Saints faithful grinning at the end of Sunday.

Over at Canal Street Chronicles, the thoroughness of the victory was evident by playing time claimed by backup quarterback Chase Daniel, but it was clear to the bloggers that things were hitting on all cylinders for the Saints on Sunday.

The Saints clicked on both sides of the ball this Sunday, most surprisingly on defense. Roman Harper and Malcolm Jenkins each came up with early interceptions, the later which was returned for a touchdown...

That defensive presence was key throughout the game, with the pressure getting to Oakland quarterback Carson Palmer for three sacks on Sunday.

On the offensive side of things, quarterback Drew Brees had a strong day, passing for 219 yards, but it was the run game that had the bloggers really smiling after a productive day on the ground. Mark Ingram rushed for 67 yards and a touchdown in the balanced victory.

Also a pleasant surprise was the continued dedication to rushing the football and balanced play calling. Perfectly balanced at 28 run/28 pass actually.
