New England Patriots at New York Jets: betting odds, preview, pick

Thanksgiving could be another feast for New England Patriots bettors, as their trends to OVERs and their trend to winning at the Jets could put lots of holiday profits in the pockets of bettors.

The New England Patriots are 9-2 SU in their last 11 road games against the New York Jets and will look to add another win to that tally this Thanksgiving when they visit the Jets at MetLife Stadium Thursday.

New England was a 7-point road favorite at mid-week, but many bettors are focused on the total of 48. The reason? The Patriots have played eight straight OVERs this season and their offense looks primed to surpass that number by itself.

From an ATS perspective, the New England Patriots have been virtually impossible to figure out. Over the course of their current four-game winning streak, the Patriots have been favored by at least a touchdown in every game and they are again (although they are not the biggest road favorite - Denver lays 11 points in Kansas City).

They easily dispatched of St. Louis 45-7 in London and Indianapolis 59-24 last week at home, but needed overtime to top the Jets 29-26 in Week 7 and barely escaped the Bills 37-31 in Week 10. The Pats are 7-3 SU and 6-4 ATS on the season.

The New York Jets snapped a three-game losing streak last week with a 27-13 road win over the St. Louis Rams last Sunday. Mark Sanchez had one of his best games of the season going 15-for-20 with a touchdown and no interceptions.

The Jets would love nothing more than to put the cries for Tim Tebow behind them with a strong performance and a win at home against the Patriots Thursday. Sunday’s win brought the Jets to 4-6 SU and 6-4 ATS on the season but did little to impact how football sportsbooks view them here.

Each of the last six games between these two AFC East rivals has gone OVER the posted total, as have each of the last eight games the New England Patriots have played in this season. With the league’s most potent offense (averaging 35.8 points per game) and one of the league’s worst passing defenses (allowing 289.7 passing yards per game), scores tend to rack up in Patriots games.

New England’s sporadic defense makes this spread very difficult to predict, but despite the Patriots failing to blow New York out the last time the two teams met, you have to side with New England’s potent attack in what figures to be another shootout.
