The Houston Texans won their first ever Thanksgiving game on Thursday, but it was a nail-biter from start to finish as they had to scratch and claw their way in the end to earn a 34-31 victory over the Detroit Lions. The game went deep into overtime, almost hinting at a two-tie NFL season, and the game likely would have ended if not for some bad luck and bad play on the part of Detroit.
Texans vs. Lions 2012: Troubling foreshadowing for Houston
Recent performances by the Houston Texans have been a bit troubling, as they have let inferior teams keep games nail-bitingly close. According to Battle Red Blog, that sort of form could hurt Houston in the playoffs.

However, he was also very wary of the form that the Texans showed throughout the game, allowing the Lions to keep themselves in the driver's seat all game. It was very reminiscent of their previous game, another nail-biter against the Jacksonville Jaguars. According to BRB, that kind of form could doom the team down the road if they don't get it together:
That being said, the injuries and the fact that we had to claw back in another game is, to say the least, troubling. If the Texans keep playing like this, I fear Texans will not last long in the playoffs. They can do that against the Jacksonvilles and Detroits of the league. But falling behind early against Baltimore or New England is only begging for trouble.
Houston will head to Tennessee to face off against the Titans on Dec. 2.
