Tim Tebow broke two of his ribs in the New York Jets' Week 10 game against the Seattle Seahawks, hampering him in practice this week and causing him to sit out of Thursday night's blowout loss against the New England Patriots.
Tim Tebow injury: Jets QB has broken ribs
A pair of fractured ribs kept Tim Tebow out despite a lopsided loss to the New England Patriots on Thursday. He would have played in case of an injury to starter Mark Sanchez.

Many wondered why the backup quarterback sat while the Jets fell behind 35-0 in the first half with starter Mark Sanchez playing quarterback. After the game, Tebow said that the rib injury that caused him to be listed as questionable was a fracture that had gotten more painful since the Seattle game, even affecting his breathing. He didn't realize the full extent of the injury until after playing in last week's game against St. Louis, needing an MRI Monday to reveal the fracture.
Although Tebow had played sparing snaps at quarterback in most of the team's games as well as on the punt unit, he didn't take the field once against New England. Third-stringer Greg McElroy was inactive, meaning that, in case of an injury to Sanchez, the Jets would have been stuck with an injured Tebow as their only option.
Tebow said he feels he'll be ready to play next Sunday against Arizona. The two-time national champion in college is 6-for-7 for 39 yards this season for New York after being traded in the offseason from the Denver Broncos.
