Vikings vs. Bears, Week 12: Chicago wins, but at a cost

The Chicago Bears defeated the Minnesota Vikings in a crucial NFC North matchup Sunday but suffered a number of injuries to significant players in the process.

Jonathan Daniel

The Chicago Bears ended a two-game losing streak Sunday, defeating the Minnesota Vikings in a crucial division matchup, 28-10, but lost several players in the process.

Just after quarterback Jay Cutler returned from the concussion he suffered against the Houston Texans, the Bears were hit with a number of other injuries. Wide receiver and return man extraordinaire Devin Hester left with a concussion. Running back Matt Forte left with an ankle injury, as did NFL Defensive Player of the Year candidate Charles Tillman.

The players remaining on the field, however, took care of the Vikings with ease. Michael Bush rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns and wideout Brandon Marshall caught 12 passes for 92 yards. As usual, the Bears defense took the ball away from the opposing offense, recovering two fumbles and intercepting Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder once to stifle the Minnesota offense and establish an insurmountable lead.

But any joy brought from the divisional victory is overshadowed by the injuries the Bears suffered. Writes Steven Schweickert of SB Nation’s Chicago Bears blog, Windy City Gridiron, the focus of the game is fixed on the injury report.

The Bears took care of business against the Vikings at Soldier Field, winning 28-10, but the story isn't so much about the win as it is the players that left the field.

Charles Tillman, Devin Hester, Chris Spencer, Lance Louis, and Matt Forte all left the game

The Bears and their roster full of walking wounded take on the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday.
