Cam Newton has had accuracy issues and problems finding the end zone this season. Today against the Washington Redskins, he has had neither.
Panthers vs. Redskins: Cam Newton 6/10, 91 yards, 1 TD with 35 yards rushing
On the ground, and through the air, Cam Newton is hurting the Redskins

At halftime, Newton has completed six passes for 91 yards, including a 19-yard touchdown pass to Steve Smith, who caught his first score of the year. Despite taking a shot early in the second quarter that left Newton’s thumb bleeding and fingernail split, he hasn’t had much difficulty showing touch on his medium and deep passes, usually something seen from quarterbacks with injured throwing hands. The already-struggling Redskins secondary seems to be having issues with Carolina’s two tight end sets, which is giving Newton a nice safety blanket.
Newton is also doing damage on the ground and has six carries for 31 yards so far. The biggest of the day was an 11-yard run on a designed read option that saw Newton gain the first down and left linebackers flat-footed.
