Vikings vs. Seahawks 2012: Field Gulls feels ‘encouraged’ by Russell Wilson’s play

Danny Kelly of Field Gulls soaks in Russell Wilson’s sharp performance Sunday in his post game analysis of Seattle’s 30-20 win over the Minnesota Vikings.

The Seattle Seahawks handled their business against the Vikings Sunday, defeating Minnesota 30-20 despite a huge game from Adrian Peterson (182 rushing yards, two touchdowns).

A huge reason for their success was the play of QB Russell Wilson. The rookie signal caller tossed three first-half touchdowns, allowing the Seahawks to hold a 20-17 halftime lead even with the Vikings compiling a mind-blowing 197 rushing yards in the first 30 minutes of play.

Danny Kelly of SB Nation’s Seahawks site, Field Gulls, called Wilson’s first half performance (10-14, 106 yards, three TDs) “nearly flawless,” pointing out that his four incompletions came on three drops and a throwaway. Kelly went on to share that Wilson went 4-for-6 in the redzone and has now gone 7-for-9 in that area over the past two games.

Here’s exactly what Kelly had to say about one of the finest performances of Wilson’s young career:

“Overall, you have to be encouraged with Wilson’s play -- he’s been poised and efficient, and the offense has been clicking well even with major injuries at receiver and along the offensive line.”

Wilson will try to continue this recent tear next weekend with the New York Jets and their sixth ranked passing defense (206 yards allowed per game) heading into town.
