Brady Quinn injury: Chiefs QB not cleared from concussion, Matt Cassel will start

Matt Cassel will start again for the Chiefs, as Brady Quinn is still recovering from a concussion.

Jake Roth-US PRESSWIRE

Quarterback Matt Cassel will once again start for the Kansas City Chiefs this week when they take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday Night Football, as Brady Quinn has not been cleared from the concussion he suffered two weeks ago, according to a tweet by the Associated Press' Dave Sktretta.

Quinn sustained the head injury in Week 8 when he started in place of the struggling Cassel against the Oakland Raiders. Quinn was taken out in the first half with the injury. It was the second straight start for Quinn, with the first coming the week prior in place of an injured Cassel. Cassel was cleared to play against the Raiders in Week 8, but Quinn was named the starter, which would make it seem a healthy Quinn is the preferred quarterback at this point for the 1-7 Chiefs.

Cassel has thrown for 1,549 yards with a meager six touchdowns and 11 interceptions. He has a quarterback rating of 68.9 while starting all but two of the Chiefs’ eight games this season. Quinn has been worse in limited time, throwing no touchdowns and three picks and compiling a 43.1 rating.
