Titans vs. Colts 2012: Indianapolis defense leads comeback victory

The Colts defense recovered from a poor first half to lead a comeback win on Sunday over the Titans.

Trailing at halftime, 20-7, the Indianapolis Colts needed a quick turnaround from a defense that had allowed 13 points in the second quarter against the Tennessee Titans. The defense responded to the challenge in the second half, leading a 27-23 comeback win over the Titans at home.

Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was just 16-of-34 for 196 yards and a touchdown, tossing two interceptions as the offense put up just 269 total yards and managed to convert just 4-of-12 third downs in the game. The defense allowed just three points in the second half, however, stoking a comeback that was highlighted by a big defensive score in the third quarter.

Brad Wells of Stampede Blue praised the performance of the defense, taking particular attention to the play of Cassius Vaughn.

The biggest play of the game came when Cassius Vaughn jumped a route, and Jake Locker threw an awful pick from his own endzone that Vaughn returned for a touchdown. That play, and the extra point that followed, gave Indy its first lead of the game 21-20. The pick was Vaughn's first of the year, and it was a big catalyst for the Colts in the second half.

The other corners, including Vontae Davis and Darius Butler, seemed to feed off Vaughn's energy following that INT.

The Titans (9-4) are now 7-1 in their past eight games and will face two very important games against the Houston Texans in the final three weeks of the season. The first, on the road in Houston on Dec. 16, is set to kick off at 1 p.m. ET with coverage on CBS.
