Titans vs. Colts, Week 14: Locker had ‘rough day’

Tennessee appeared like it might steal a win, only to come up short in the end to Andrew Luck.

It was another tough Sunday for the Tennessee Titans, who fell, 27-23, to the Indianapolis Colts in Lucas Oil Stadium.

Tennessee got off to a hot start and looked as though it could pull off the upset, only to be beaten in the second half by the solid play of Andrew Luck and the shaky play of its own young quarterback, Jake Locker.

As August West points out on Music City Miracles, Locker didn’t have his best afternoon by any stretch:

Locker especially had a much rougher day than his stats would lead you to believe: his two terrible interceptions included a devastating pick-6, he missed at least two wide-open passes that should have gone for touchdowns, and he failed to execute inside the red zone.

There’s no reason to believe he isn’t the right guy for the future, but we have to be honest enough to admit this was not a banner performance for the young quarterback.

It’s been an up-and-down year overall for Locker, who has thrown nine touchdowns and the same amount of interceptions, all while completing just 57.5 percent of his passes.

The Titans are now 4-9 and playing out the string, hoping to finish strong. That hope will continue next week at home on Monday Night Football against the woeful New York Jets, who are actually still alive in the AFC playoff hunt.
