Fred Jackson injury: Bills RB out 2-3 weeks

Fred Jackson has a leg injury, and will be out for at least two to three weeks, making Tashard Choice C.J. Spiller’s immediate backup for what could be the rest of the regular season.

Fred Jackson's season is likely done, as the Buffalo Bills running back will miss at least two to three weeks with an undisclosed injury in his right leg.

Jackson was hurt on a gang tackle in the fourth quarter of the team’s 15-12 loss to St. Louis when two players collapsed on his leg. He needed to be helped off the field, and when asked about the injury after the game, Chan Gailey commented that it “did not look good.” It’s not official what he hurt, but with three weeks left in the year and the Bills toeing the edge of playoff elimination, it seems unlikely Jackson will return to the playing field this season.

The sixth-year running back out of Coe College is listed as C.J. Spiller's backup, but has been splitting carries with him. He's received slightly less touches -- Spiller has 144, Jackson has 115 -- and has been significantly less successful, as Spiller has 944 yards on 6.6 yards per carry while Jackson has 437 on 3.8. Tashard Choice, who has 40 carries on the year, is the third-stringer.

Jackson previously missed a pair of games on the season with a sprained right knee.
