Chuck Pagano expected to return next week

The Indianapolis Colts will see the return of their head coach, Chuck Pagano, after he went on an indefinite leave to fight leukemia.

Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano could return to his duties as early as Monday after being medically cleared following three rounds of chemotherapy to fight leukemia, according to multiple reports.

Both the Indianapoli Star and The Associated Press report Pagano has been recovering from his final round of chemotherapy the past three weeks and could be ready to resume his coaching responsibilities. Just how much responsibility he takes off the bat remains to be seen. Pagano and the Colts will work out the extent of his role this week.

Pagano was diagnosed with leukemia on Sept. 26 and on Oct. 1 announced that he’d be taking an indefinite leave. With his disease in remission, Pagano will continue to take oral medication and doctors will monitor his condition for the next few years.

And Pagano will return to a 9-5 team that went 8-3 under interim head coach Bruce Arians. Indianapolis is currently in the fifth seed in the AFC playoff race.
