The Baltimore Ravens snapped out of a three-game losing streak with a 33-14 explosion against the New York Giants, winning the AFC North title and sealing a playoff berth.

Baltimore had struggled, losing three games in a row to allow the Cincinnati Bengals and Pittsburgh Steelers back into a divisional race that seemed over. Whatever struggles the team had in those games were gone, as the defense held New York to only two scores while both Bernard Pierce and Ray Rice got over 100 yards rushing. Good feelings were flowing as Ravens blogger Zachary Beard at Baltimore Beatdown wrote his postgame recap.

Beard highlighted Joe Flacco, who had been criticized for his play in past weeks but responded with a 309-yard, two-touchdown, zero-pick outing against the Giants.
Fun little fact for you guys; Joe Flacco broke his single-season passing yards record tonight (breaking 2012’s mark of 3,622 passing yards), proving to all of the naysayers that he isn’t a mediocre QB and was simply in a slump the previous trio of losses. When the Ravens brass takes a look at Flacco’s season this offseason when determining whether or not to re-sign the QB, they will see this game as proof that he can be the dominant player they projected when he signed his rookie contract all the way back in 2008, and will be more than content to make Joe a “lifelong Raven”.
The win seals a playoff berth for Baltimore, but they’ll still need to play hard next week against the Bengals as they try to lock up home field advantage in their first game.
