Former NFL linebacker Joey Porter to be released after arrest

Joey Porter is expected to be released from custody Monday after paying restitution to a Las Vegas casino.

Former NFL linebacker Joey Porter was expected to be released from custody on Monday after paying $70,000 in restitution to a Las Vegas casino, according to a report from the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Porter was arrested on Friday on a felony warrant for writing a check with non-sufficient funds. According to the report, Porter owed the Hard Rock Casino $70,000 after receiving markers for between $5,000 and $20,000 on eight occasions over the summer. Clark County prosecutor Sam Bateman said Porter paid the restitution on Monday and the law enforcement hold was cancelled.

The 35-year-old Porter played 13 seasons in the NFL, including eight with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He spent the final two seasons of his career with the Arizona Cardinals before retiring in the offseason. Porter, who was arrested following a traffic stop in Baskersfield, Calif., made more than $30 million during his NFL career. In addition to the Steelers and Cardinals, he also played for the Miami Dolphins.
