2013 NFL Offensive Player of the Year: SB Nation selects Adrian Peterson

SB Nation’s NFL bloggers voted on year-end awards and Peterson, the Vikings running back, tops the list for Offensive Player of the Year.

USA TODAY Sports

SB Nation's NFL bloggers voted Vikings' running back Adrian Peterson as the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year. Peterson is 102 yards short of 2,000 on the season and 207 yards away from tying the famed Eric Dickerson's NFL single-season rushing record. To say he's been a freak of nature would be an understatement.

Peterson had several MVP votes as well but that award went to Peyton Manning. If a blogger didn't vote for Peterson as the MVP, there's a good chance they voted him as Offensive Player of the Year.

The results: Adrian Peterson (21), Tom Brady (3), Calvin Johnson (2), Peyton Manning (1)

Preseason pick: Packers’ QB Aaron Rodgers

Pride of Detroit: Okay, lets start with the obvious... a Detroit guy picking Megatron over AP for offensive player of the year. Here’s my defense... both have a shot to break all-time yards records at there position, but with two games left Calvin is much closer, as in he needs fewer yards per game on average than what he’s averaging to get the record. It’s also easier to take a receiver out of a game with coverage than a running back. So there!

Dawgs By Nature: I feel like this is an unfair race between two players in three categories: NFL MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, and Comeback Player of the Year. Peyton Manning and Adrian Peterson deserve each of those awards.

Buffalo Rumblings: The only thing vaguely human about Adrian Peterson is the layer of skin hiding his robot parts.

Bleeding Green Nation: The guy has just been flat-out the most dominant player in the NFL this year.
