Russell Wilson led the Seattle Seahawks on back-to-back scoring drives in a 23-17 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday, first to tie the game up to send it to overtime, then on the first drive of the extra session to seal a win for Seattle.

The Seattle Seahawks came away with an overtime win over the Chicago Bears Sunday, with Russell Wilson throwing clutch touchdowns in the last minute of regulation and again in overtime.

The rookie quarterback out of Wisconsin has proven his worth on several occasions in 2012, proving wrong the detractors who said he was too short to play in the NFL and leaving no doubt that he deserves the starting gig for the Seahawks after being drafted in the third round. But Sunday was Wilson’s best game yet, tying or setting his career highs in both passing and rushing as the Seahawks put up 459 yards against a defense many considered the best in the NFL. Seahawks blogger Danny Kelly of Field Gulls had nothing but good things to say about Wilson’s effort in the 23-17 win in his postgame recap:
Russell Wilson just flat out didn't play like a rookie today. I wouldn't call this a hallmark offensive performance by the Seahawks young unit in this one, but late in the game they came alive, collectively. Wilson finished 23 of 37 for 293 yards and 2 touchdowns to no interceptions and quietly added 71 yards rushing on 9 attempts. He escaped pressure beautifully on several occasions and extended plays on others.
Kelly was disappointed in the defensive effort the Seahawks showed, terming the win “one of the most stressful and annoying games I’ve ever watched,” but Wilson’s late game heroics ensured that the general mood was a pretty good one for Seahawks fans.
