Eric Dickerson doesn’t think Adrian Peterson will break the rushing record

Adrian Peterson needs 208 yards Sunday to beat the NFL’s all-time single season rushing record, but the current record-holder thinks Peterson will fall short.

USA TODAY Sports

Adrian Peterson needs 208 rushing yards in Sunday's season finale at home against the Green Bay Packers to break the all-time single-season rushing record. But count current record-holder Eric Dickerson among those who don't think Peterson will get it.

“No, I don’t,” Dickerson told NFL Network on Sunday morning, while also acknowledging that Peterson certainly has the ability to get the yardage necessary to break the record.

Dickerson also acknowledged that he doesn’t want to see his record fall, telling the NFL Network, “Anybody [with a record] who says ‘all records are made to be broken,’ that’s a lie.”

Peterson has reached the total he'd need to gain on Sunday twice in the last four weeks. Peterson rushed for 210 yards on 21 carries in a loss against the Packers in Green Bay on Dec. 2, and he ran for 212 yards on 24 carries in a win over the St. Louis Rams on Dec. 16.
