Chan Gailey fired by Buffalo Bills

After three seasons at the bottom of the division, Chan Gailey is out in Buffalo.

The Buffalo Bills will be going in a different direction after firing Chan Gailey on Monday. The team announced the move at 11 a.m. ET, sending out a tweet to confirm the news. Gailey spent three seasons with the Bills, all of which ended with double-digit losses.

This was Gailey's second stint as a head coach in the NFL, the first of which came with the Dallas Cowboys. There, he tallied an 18-14 record in two seasons. In Buffalo, Gailey finished with just 16 wins over three years.

It doesn’t seem likely that Gailey will end up as a head coach at the professional level any time soon. He could very well find a position on an offensive staff on some NFL team, or head back to college football. Gailey spent 2002 through 2007 as the head coach at Georgia Tech, amassing a 44-32 record with the Yellow Jackets.

Firing Gailey means the Bills will have a seventh different head coach since the departure of Marv Levy after the 1997 season.
