Raiders expected to part ways with OC Greg Knapp

It’s looking like there will be a new offensive coordinator in Oakland with the Raiders reportedly expected to fire offensive coordinator Greg Knapp.

The Oakland Raiders are expected to part ways with offensive coordinator Greg Knapp along with "some other members of the staff" sometime this week, according to Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle.

The Raiders have not confirmed the news.

McFadden averaged a career-low 3.3 yards per carry this season after registering over five yards a tote across the past two seasons. The 25-year-old ball carrier also only logged four games with over 100 total yards of offense in 12 tries after reaching the same number in just seven games last season. Knapp's zone-blocking scheme was a lightning rod for criticism this past season with many perceiving that running back Darren McFadden's talents were going to waste.

Under Knapp’s watch, the Raiders did finish eighth in passing yards (255.3 YPG), but that was partially due to necessity with the team in perpetual comeback mode after finishing a four-win season. The Raiders also completed the season sitting at 28th in rushing yards (88.8 YPG), 26th in points for (18.1 PPG) and 26th in third down conversion rate (35 percent) in Knapp’s first year back in Oakland.

There’s is currently no word on who the Raiders plan to interview or promote to take Knapp’s role on the coaching staff.
