Mike Munchak will return as Titans head coach, says owner Bud Adams

The second-year coach will get another shot with the Titans next season.

Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams said Monday he will not fire head coach Mike Munchak, according to Jim Wyatt of The Tennessean.

In his second season coaching the Titans, Munchak led the team to a 6-10 finish this season. It was a dropoff from 2011 when the Titans went 9-7 and finished second in the AFC South.

While Munchak is staying on, front office executive Mike Reinfeldt will be fired, Adams told Wyatt.

Titans general manager Ruston Webster will also stay with the team, Wyatt tweeted.

The Titans are looking to get back to the playoffs for the first time since 2008 when they went 13-3. Tennessee had a successful regular season, but lost in the divisional round to the Baltimore Ravens, 13-10.

Munchak replaced long time coach Jeff Fisher after the 2010 season. Fisher coached the team for so long he saw the team change its name three times. Fisher was on board in 1994, when the franchise was the Houston Oilers. After the 1996 season the team moved to Tennessee but kept its nickname. Two years later, the team became the Tennessee Titans.
