Broncos vs. Raiders, Week 14: Denver’s offense sloppy, but enough

The Denver Broncos offense was sloppy in the red zone against the Oakland Raiders, but it did the job.

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos have won 10 games for the first time since 2005, when they made the AFC Championship game while being led by Jake Plummer. To get that 10th win, they took down the Oakland Raiders on Thursday night, 26-13, for their second win over the Black and Silver this season.

Peyton Manning set a couple of offensive milestones and the offense put up 26 points on the Raiders defense, with a solid performance by Knowshon Moreno helping put the points on the board. However, the offense was sloppy throughout the game. As Mile High Report pointed out after the game, the Broncos' attack stalling in the red zone several times for field goals instead of touchdowns was particularly frustrating:

The offense was atrocious in the redzone with two touchdowns, four field goals and one interception on seven opportunities. It was enough today, but you have to score touchdowns not field goals when you get the opportunity.

Denver will have 10 days to get its red zone offense back up to par before it faces the Baltimore Ravens, a team with a far better defense than the Raiders put up. Especially in the red zone, the Ravens will put up a higher performance, and the Broncos will need to prepare as they try and continue their race to the top of the AFC.
