Morris Claiborne injury: Cowboys CB leaves game after hit to face

Morris Claiborne had his head sandwiched between two players in a nasty collision in the Cowboys vs. Bengals game.

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne sustained a facial laceration in the third quarter of Dallas' Week 14 game against the Bengals, and his return is questionable. Claiborne went to tackle Cincinnati's Orson Charles, diving at the Bengals tight end's lower body as he closed on an angle at the sideline. But the rookie cornerback got caught in between the leg of Charles and oncoming teammate Danny McCray, who also went low at Charles. Claiborne's head was sandwiched in between McCray and Charles, and his helmet went flying off as he went down on the sideline.

The Cowboys training staff immediately attended to the rookie and No. 6 overall pick, and there was a call for a stretcher. But Claiborne did eventually get up and walk off the field under his own power. He did, however, have a towel to his bloody face as he went to the locker room with trainers. Ian Rapoport said it appeared the trainers were either wiping away blood or looking for teeth on the sideline where Claiborne went down.

Claiborne had five tackles against the Bengals before leaving the field early in the third quarter.
