Cardinals vs. Seahawks results: Seattle takes full advantage of 8 Arizona turnovers

Arizona gave the ball up early and often against Seattle, and the results were exactly what you would expect.

Otto Greule Jr

The Seattle Seahawks rolled the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, handily demonstrating why the idea that you can't turn the ball over and expect to win is a respected truism. One statistic perfectly encapsulates the game: Arizona turned the ball over eight times. Seattle capitalized to the tune of 30 points either directly on turnovers or on the resulting drive, and overall the Seahawks cruised to a 58-0 victory.

Richard Sherman and Bobby Wagner were the men of the hour for Seattle. They had 2 interceptions each, and Sherman ran his back for a touchdown. Marshawn Lynch did the heavy lifting on offense, running for 128 yards on 11 carries for a stellar 11.6 yards per carry average. He racked up three touchdowns before being taken out of the game in the third quarter. That took a lot of pressure off Russell Wilson, who threw the ball only 13 times in the two and a half quarters he was in the game. He completed seven of those passes for 148 yards, throwing one touchdown and one interception.

Arizona is facing a lot of tough questions, not the least of which concern John Skelton. Four of the six first-half turnovers were his, three interceptions and a fumble. Another interception in the second half sent him to the bench, but Ryan Lindley didn't fare much better, fumbling the ball for Arizona's eighth turnover. Patrick Peterson had Arizona's lone interception, but his two muffed punts are likely to be the focus of the coming week.

Fantasy Studs and Duds

Anyone with the Seattle defense and special teams in their fantasy league likely had a great day, with the squad collecting twice as many points as the second-place lineup. Anyone starting Marshawn Lynch has to be pleased that three of Seattle’s five offensive touchdowns were in his hands.

Did they cover?
Favored by 10, Seattle had little trouble covering the spread.

Next Week

The Cardinals will face the Lions at home, while Seattle will travel to Toronto to take on the Bills.
