Chargers’ Kris Dielman Plans To Retire, According To Report

San Diego Chargers guard Kris Dielman could retire after sustaining a concussion that caused him to have a seizure.

Back in November, San Diego Chargers' left guard Kris Dielman suffered a concussion during a game against the New York Jets. On the team flight back to San Diego following that game, Dielman suffered a seizure. That resulted in the All-Pro lineman going on injured reserve for the remainder of the season. Now, Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune is reporting that Dielman is leaning toward retirement.

Acee cites sources close to Dielman, but makes it clear that this is not set in stone.

Neither the Chargers nor Dielman will confirm it, but even as many close to the team and Dielman seemed convinced he would continue playing, sources confirmed in Indianapolis that the All-Pro left guard will reveal his intentions “soon” and is “leaning toward” retirement.

If Dielman retires, he becomes just the latest issue for the Chargers along their offensive line. Nick Hardwick is a free agent, while questions linger over the health and long-term status of Marcus McNeill.
