Wide receiver Terrell Owens has been trying to get on an NFL roster since becoming a free agent after playing the 2010 season with the Cincinnati Bengals, but had to deal with rehabbing a torn ACL he suffered during the 2011 offseason. Owens wasn't able to find any takers for the 2011 season, despite doing his own "pro day" to show teams that he was ready to go. Owens isn't done playing football however, as he recently signed a contract with the Allen Wranglers of the Indoor Football League which also gives him 50 percent ownership of the franchise.
Terrell Owens Says He’s Not Retired, Still Wants To Play
In front of a crowd on Wednesday night, Owens reiterated however that he’s not done playing the NFL and still wants to make it back into the league. “It was an opportunity for myself and my family,” Owens told a crowd of nearly 700 people. “It’s a way for myself to keep in shape. I haven’t retired from the NFL. I want to play a couple more years. This right here will allow me to do that and assess where I am. I know I’m physically fit to play the game still.”
The Wrangler’s season begins on Feb. 25 at home against the Wichita Wild and lasts through June 16, just in time for Owens to attempt to sign on with an NFL team again. There was some thought that Owens might just finally retire, but he claims he’s going to get back into the NFL.
