Minnesota Vikings cornerback Asher Allen has decided to retire after playing just three seasons in the NFL. The news appears to have caught everyone off guard, including the Vikings' coaching staff. As of yet, Allen has not offered his reasoning for leaving the league at just 24 years old. Head coach Leslie Frazier announced the news during OTAs on Wednesday.

Allen started 20 games for the Vikings over the past two seasons, proving capable in an injury-depleted secondary. He wraps up his career with four interceptions and 134 tackles. Allen was selected out of Georgia with the No. 86 overall pick during the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft.
