Redskins Impressed By ‘The Arm’ Of Robert Griffin III

Robert Griffin III’s arm is so strong, his Redskins teammates have dubbed his throwing ability “The Arm” out of respect ... and awe.For more on RG3, the man of a million talents, and the Redskins, visit Hogs Haven and SB Nation DC.

To the surprise of virtually no one who is aware of who Robert Griffin III is, the Redskins' newest quarterback and latest savior has impressing his teammates in organized team activities. But, in a development that may be a bit shocking to the general public, it's not his incredible speed and agility as a quarterback, his moxie and charisma, or his mastery of an air-it-out offense under Art Briles at Baylor that's winning rave reviews, according to Yahoo!'s Les Carpenter: it's RG3's tremendous arm strength.

Griffin III's throwing motion is essentially a flick, but still gets the ball out in a hurry and with some mustard on it; Redskins teammates, hard-pressed to come up with a comparison for it beyond Michael Vick's similar cannon-flick, have taken to calling RG3's throwing ability "The Arm," as if it were a 1950s B-movie come to life.

Given how verklempt it apparently leaves Rex Grossman — a fine, howitzer-shouldered judge of arm strength — it may well be:

“It’s more of running to your left and flicking your wrist and throwing the ball 70 yards,” Washington’s backup quarterback Rex Grossman said, as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

If Griffin III can bring "The Arm" with him as the NFC East's next superstar starting quarterback, it's going to make the debate about the best arm in the division, which also includes the Eagles' Vick and the Giants' Eli Manning, a very tough one indeed. (Poor Tony Romo.)

The Redskins might be able to call RG3 “The Mouth,” too, considering how good he is at interviewing.
