Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco was not in attendance at the team's mandatory minicamp on Wednesday, but he wasn't just playing hooky. The Ravens excused their QB from the practice because his wife was giving birth to their first child. Flacco had to skip out of practice on short notice when he got a big phone call on Wednesday morning.
Joe Flacco Misses Ravens Practice For Good Reason
“Joe got the call this morning,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. “Obviously, the labor started and Joe was high-tailing up the road to Philly to be with Dana [Flacco]. We wish them nothing but the best.”
If you're a heartless individual who cares way too much about football and reads way too much into minicamps, you'll be interested to learn that Tyrod Taylor took snaps with the first team offense in Flacco's absence.
Also notable: Ed Reed missed practice as well, and it was not because his wife was going into labor, to anyone's knowledge. He's probably going to get fined.
