The Oakland Raiders reportedly have interest in free-agent running back Cedric Benson, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The Raiders need a backup to Darren McFadden after losing Michael Bush to the Chicago Bears. Current backups Mike Goodson and Taiwan Jones combined for just 16 carries last season (and Jones had all of them).

Considering McFadden's constant injury struggles, Benson's durability would be a welcome addition to Oakland's backfield. Benson may not be the most dynamic back, but he had at least 214 carries in each of his four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, and gained more than 1,000 rushing yards in each of his last three.

Benson has 5,769 career rushing yards in seven NFL seasons. He has averaged more than four yards per carry (YPC) just once in his last four seasons, and has averaged 3.8 YPC for his career. He will have tough time signing with any team as a starter this offseason, but as a reliable backup, he should have several suitors.
