Trade rumors immediately followed the holdout news last week, but it seems that everything has been cleared up, and Harvin and the Vikings are back on the same page. 1500 ESPN’s Judd Zulgad has more in his notes column.
It’s an odd turn of events in Minnesota, but considering the Vikings weren’t likely to give in to Harvin’s trade request, this result probably is best for both sides.

Harvin is going to make less than seven figures in base salary this season, but he claims that money is not the reason he wants out of Minnesota. What, exactly Harvin dislikes about his situation to the point where he demanded a trade is anyone’s guess at this point, but Vikings fans will like to hear that he’s willing to show up to minicamp, even if he’d much rather be somewhere else.

The Vikings are said to be wary of paying the receiver anything beyond his current contract and potential bonuses. According to Tom Pelissero of ESPN 1500 in Minnesota, the team is concerned with Harvin’s injury history and how it could impact his future career. On top of that, the team has concerns about his off-field issues and previous run-ins with the former coaching staff there, most famously former head coach Brad Childress.

Head coach Leslie Frazier indicated Harvin did not have an issue with his role in the offense, which would seem to leave the issue as being a contract problem. Harvin’s rookie contract has two years left, during which he could earn a maximum of $3.4925 million. There has been no specific mention of the contract being an issue, but there are few other issues that immediately come to mind.
