Kevin Faulk is waiting for the New England Patriots to reach out to him with a new contract for at least another season. If not, the veteran running back will retire from the NFL after 13 seasons with the Pats.
Kevin Faulk Says It’s Patriots Or Retirement
Kevin Faulk will retire after 13 seasons in the NFL if the New England Patriots don’t try to re-sign him this offseason.
“I hope so. I’m still praying, hoping,” Faulk said. “If it doesn’t happen, hey, I had a long run. God has blessed me with a long career as a running back, as a football player in general. But if it doesn’t happen, hey, I’m moving on.”
The Patriots currently have eight running backs and fullbacks rostered, so there is no readily apparent need for the team to re-sign Faulk. He seems to understand as much, acknowledging that “it’s a business” and that he can’t take it personally. Faulk has been a valuable asset rushing and receiving throughout his time with the Patriots, totaling 7,308 total yards from scrimmage so far in his career.
