The Cleveland Browns were rumored to be one of the teams seriously interested in 2012 NFL Supplemental Draft prospect Josh Gordon and, what do you know, they selected him in the 2nd round of Thursday’s draft, according to Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com.
NFL Supplemental Draft Results: Josh Gordon Lands In Cleveland
This means that the Browns now have the rights to Gordon, former Baylor receiver, but also give up a 2nd round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. Gordon was projected as a 2nd to 5th round pick in the Supplemental Draft. Cleveland was the only team he visited in the lead up to the draft.
The Browns had the second pick in each round of the draft, right behind the Buffalo Bills, who we now know passed on Gordon twice in Thursday’s draft.
Gordon last played for Baylor in the 2010 season where had over 700 yards receiving. After getting suspended for a marijuana arrest, Gordon transferred to Utah, where transfer rules made him sit out the 2011 season. Since then, he decided his best shot at the NFL was to enter the 2012 Supplemental Draft rather than waiting for 2013.
