Two seasons ago, the Seahawks' Mike Williams was among the best stories in the NFL. Out of football for three years due to poor conditioning and other factors, Williams resurrected his career with Seattle. Now, if Williams is going to continue his comeback, it will have to be somewhere else, as the Seahawks released him Friday.

The 28-year-old Williams had a successful first season in Seattle, catching 65 passes for 751 yards, but failed to duplicate that success in 2011. He caught just 18 passes for 236 yards while missing four games due to injury last season.
Williams signed a three-year extension following the 2010 season. He was scheduled to earn a base salary of $3 million in 2012 with a total cap number of $3.6125 million. Due to his contract and 2011 struggles, Williams was considered to be on the roster bubble heading into training camp. Seattle will proceed with a wide receiver core headlined by Sidney Rice, Doug Baldwin and Golden Tate.
