Jacksonville Jaguars Start Training Camp Thursday

With a new ownership group and a new coaching staff in place, the Jacksonville Jaguars open training camp on Thursday for the start of a new era.

The first big decision they'll have to make is at quarterback, where 2011 first-rounder Blaine Gabbert struggled mightily last season.

Gabbert, coming from a spread offense at Missouri, wasn’t considered among the more NFL-ready signal callers last year. It showed in 2011, with Gabbert completing only 50.4% of his passes and throwing for only 2,154 yards and 12 touchdowns, despite starting 15 games.

Mularkey, the former offensive coordinator of the Atlanta Falcons, had a lot of success developing a young quarterback in Matt Ryan, and he'll hope for similar results in Gabbert's sophomore campaign.

Giving Gabbert more weapons in the passing game was one of the Jaguars' priorities in the off-season, as they signed Lee Evans and Laurent Robinson in free agency and took Justin Blackmon in the first round of the NFL Draft.
