With training camp just barely underway, the New York Giants received a bit of bad news on Tuesday. Safety Tyler Sash has been suspended for the first four games of the 2012 NFL season after failing a drug test.

Mike Garafolo of the Star-Ledger reported that Sash, who is set to enter his second NFL season, tested positive for performance enhancing drugs.

On his official Twitter page, Sash posted a statement, saying that he tested positive for prescription Adderall and was unaware it was a banned substance in the NFL. Sash says he takes full responsibility for the violation, but wanted to set the record straight about his suspension.

The Giants selected Sash out of Iowa in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL draft. He recorded recorded 17 tackles and two forced fumbles during his rookie season for the eventual Super Bowl champions.
