Antwaan Randle El will announce his retirement from the NFL later this month, according to an email his brother, Curtis, reportedly sent to the Times of Northwest Indiana. According to the report, Randle El will make his retirement official on July 14 at his skills training academy.

Antwaan Randle El will retire from the NFL later this month, according to his younger brother, Curtis. Randle El played nine seasons in the league, five with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Randle El was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the second round of the 2002 NFL Draft. He played nine seasons at wide receiver, recording 370 career receptions for 4,467 yards and 15 touchdowns. Randle El played four seasons with the Washington Redskins before re-signing with the Steelers in 2010. He was set to play for Pittsburgh last season, but had his contract terminated due to the lockout.
Randle El is also known for his electrifying college career at quarterback with the Indiana Hoosiers. He finished sixth in Heisman Trophy voting his senior season, and became the first quarterback in Division I history to score 40 touchdowns passing and 40 touchdowns rushing in his career.
