Kevin Kolb Will Start For Cardinals Against Raiders

Kevin Kolb will get one last shot to prove himself worthy of the starting position for the Arizona Cardinals, as ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting the quarterback will start Friday's game against the Oakland Raiders. This will be the third start of the preseason for Kolb, who suffered a rib contusion against New Orleans on Aug. 5.

Kolb has completed just two passes so far this preseason, going 2-for-9 for 25 yards and an interception.

The big news, however, seems to be that even with word that Kolb will once again be getting the start, John Skelton is considered the favorite to land the starting quarterback job. Skelton started seven games for the Cardinals last season after Kolb was injured, completing 54.9 percent of his passes for 1,913 yards with 11 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

The third-year quarterback out of Fordham has certainly looked better than Kolb in the two preseason games so far, yet still hasn’t shown much of an ability to challenge defenses downfield. Considering that the players themselves prefer Skelton over Kolb, it seems that this is certainly the logical choice for the Cardinals.
